Indian Head Massage
What is Indian Head Massage?
Indian head massage is a complementary massage therapy in which the back, neck, scalp and face are massaged with the purpose of manipulating energy channels. The goal is to clear blocked energy channels that cause the build-up of negative energy. The treatment, devised by Sole Therapies, combines facial massage techniques with traditional Indian Head techniques to give a deeply relaxing treatment. As with a Reflexology treatment, a 30 minute consultation needs to be conducted before any treatments are given to
check your medical history and ensure there are no contraindications.
What is a treatment like?
During a treatment, you will be sat in a low-back chair and there is no need to remove any clothing. The massage starts by working the upper back and shoulders, followed by the neck, scalp and face. The use of a specially formulated Indian head oil on the scalp and face is very popular, but is optional. Despite being sat up, this is another deeply relaxing treatment and your head is fully supported at all times, allowing you to drift off to sleep if you wish. Clients experience warmth, tingling sensations and a release of tension, anxiety and pressure.
What is it useful for?
Indian head massage has many benefits, but it is especially good for alleviating sinus problems, tinnitus, headaches, stress and tension. By working the scalp, the treatment can be beneficial for stimulating hair growth and helping to improve hair condition - particularly if an oil is used. Finally, it can help to re-balance energies in the body, improve circulation and helps to promote sleep and a sense of relaxation.
